Liam Owen
Artist branding project
Identity, Art Direction, Print
Identity and printed materials for neo-expressionist painter Liam Owen. The identity draws directly from the artist’s process, translating physical actions into functional design elements.
The format concept is rooted in the artist’s studio practice, canvases are often stapled to the wall before stretching. This led to a system where printed materials are physically stapled to the back of artworks, combining function, concept, and material logic.
The typeface Whyte Inktrap was selected for its sharp internal cuts, referencing the thick, assertive brush strokes present in Liam’s work. Printed components include certificates of authenticity, artwork receipts, and business cards.
